The use of lilac in this carpet is unusual for the
Milas region, it does however add an element of color to an otherwise
predominantly red and ivory carpet. A medium sized carpet suitable
for dining and sitting rooms. When made, the design motifs of this
carpet were bordered in black, during the cleaning and finishing
process the black pile was cut back by hand to form a 'valley',
giving the design motifs a three dimensional look. The design, including
the black outlines can of course be seen on the reverse side. |
